Serengeti & Zanzibar
Twelve nights of plains and palms: a safari and beach journey to shape around you.
This is one of our most-loved journeys: a great first safari across the Serengeti, then a soft, barefoot finish on the shores of Zanzibar. It is shaped here as a honeymoon-style trip, though it suits couples and first-time safari travellers just as beautifully.
Read it for the rhythm and the feeling rather than as a fixed departure. Every Atlas&Co. journey is built from scratch around your dates, your pace and the way you like to travel. Browse more on Tanzania and our safari & wilderness experiences, or see how we plan on our sample itineraries page.
Guide price from £9,500 per person, based on two sharing and excluding international flights. Every journey is priced to your exact dates, rooms and experiences.

Dawn drives on the plains, then long, slow days where the only plan is the tide.
The journey
Day by day.
A gentle arc from the plains to the coast, with room to slow down at each stage. The nights and stays below are a guide; we reshape every part of it around you.
Days 1 to 2 · Arrival and into the Serengeti
You arrive into northern Tanzania and ease in gently, with a night to rest near Arusha before the bush begins. The next morning, a light aircraft lifts you over the Rift Valley and out across the plains, landing on a quiet airstrip deep in the Serengeti. A first afternoon game drive carries you to camp, with the light already turning gold and the landscape opening out in every direction.
Days 3 to 5 · Game drives across the plains
These are the heart of the safari: unhurried days built around the rhythm of the bush. Dawn drives begin before the day has fully woken, when the plains are at their most beautiful and the wildlife at its most active. You settle into a tented camp such as Singita Sabora, with slow lunches in the shade, still afternoons by the pool and lantern-lit dinners under the acacia. Where the season allows, we time your stay to the movement of the great migration.
Days 6 to 7 · A wider landscape
To broaden the safari, we add contrast: a different corner of the Serengeti, a private conservancy or the dramatic descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, where wildlife gathers densely on the floor below. The pace stays gentle, with time between drives to simply be in the landscape. This is also where a honeymoon-style trip earns its quiet moments, with a private bush breakfast or a sundowner set up just for two.
Days 8 to 9 · Down to the coast and into Zanzibar
A light flight carries you from the plains to the Indian Ocean, trading dust and canvas for sea breeze and palms. You settle into a barefoot beach retreat on the Zanzibar coast, and the gear shifts entirely: no early starts, no agenda, just the sound of the water and long, slow days ahead. The first evening is for doing very little, with dinner near the sand as the light fades.
Days 10 to 11 · Barefoot days on Zanzibar
These are the days to exhale. Swim, snorkel the reef, drift out on a dhow at sunset and let the meals stretch long into the afternoon. If you would like, we weave in a few gentle highlights: a wander through the lanes of Stone Town, a spice-farm visit, or a quiet sandbank picnic reached only by boat. Everything is optional, and the default setting is rest.
Day 12 · A last morning, then home
A final slow breakfast by the water, a last swim and a gentle return to the world. We arrange your transfers and timings so the journey home feels as seamless as everything before it, with the option of a short city stopover to break the trip if it suits you.
For the lodge in detail, see Singita Sabora. For a beach finish further afield, the Maldives pairs beautifully with the same safari.

Days built around the light, the herds and the long quiet of the plains.
